Jennifer Roy Visits Middlebrook School

Author Jennifer Roy visited Middlebrook on Tuesday as part of the Wilton Reads 2019, she talked about her book ‘Yellow Star’ and the research she undertook in order to write the book, which is based on the experience of her aunt, one of only twelve child survivors of the Lodz ghetto in Poland.

Each seventh-grade social studies class heard Ms. Roy speak about her experience writing the book, she shared her research, drafting and editing process with the children as well as historical information about the Lodz ghetto and what it was like for Jewish people in Poland during the time of the second world war.

An invitation to spend lunch with Ms. Roy was extended to all other students and around 70 joined her to hear her presentation and to ask questions about the book.
