The Physical Education Department offers a program that includes lifetime fitness and other physical activities built upon the Physical Education Academic Learning Standards CASEL’S Core Competencies of Social and Emotional Learning (SEL). Grade-Level Outcomes include:
Demonstrate college and career readiness as demonstrated by the ability to plan and implement different types of personal fitness programs
Demonstrate competency in two or more lifetime activities
Describe key concepts associated with successful participation in physical activity
Model responsible behavior while engaged in physical activity
Engage in physical activities that meet the need for self-expression, challenge, social interaction and enjoyment

The Health Education Program at Wilton High School utilizes an integrated approach and alignment to components of the health education curriculum including: National Health Education Standards (Joint Committee on National Health Education Standards, 2007), essential core content, grade level performance indicators and Social Emotional Learning Competencies (CASEL, 2019). Health Education academic standards include: core concepts related to health promotion and disease prevention, accessing health information, self-management, analyzing influences, goal-setting, decision-making, interpersonal communication and advocacy. The SEL competencies aligned with the health education standards are: self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship skills, and responsible decision-making. All students in grade 10 are invited to participate in the SOS (Signs of Suicide) Prevention program.
