The Physical Education Department offers a program that includes lifetime fitness and other physical activities. Program outcomes for students include:
Demonstrate the skills and knowledge necessary to participate in a variety of physical activities.
Recognize and understand the different effects of physical activity on the mind and body and promote a healthy and active lifestyle.
Develop interpersonal skills and exhibit positive character traits during physical activity.
The Health Education Program at Wilton High School offers students an opportunity to practice leading a healthy and balanced lifestyle. Focus areas include: core concepts related to health promotion and disease prevention, accessing health information, self-management and healthy behaviors, analyzing internal and external influences, communication skills, decision-making skills, and advocacy. These topics are based on Connecticut’s Healthy and Balanced Living Curriculum Framework (2006). All sophomores are required to take one semester of Adolescent Health.
