Eighth grade band students performed with the High School Wind Ensemble last night in their first taste of performing on the High School Stage. Over 60 eighth graders were able to experience what the music program has in store for them as they joined over one hundred members of the Wind Ensemble on stage for a rousing performance of The Light Cavalry Overture by Franz von Suppe
‘It’s really important for the eighth graders to see the progression in the program and where they will be in a couple of years’ said Nick Loafman, Band Director at Wilton High School ‘It’s also fun for the older kids to look back at how far they’ve come’.
Also performing at the concert were the Wilton High School Concert Band – this is a group of around 50 mainly freshmen students and is the band most High School students start in. Membership of Wind Ensemble is by audition.
