Summer Learning 2026

Summer Learning 2026

Wilton Public Schools are delighted to offer students a chance to immerse themselves in reading and learning all summer long through our Summer Learning program. We hope you'll have a restful and enjoyable summer.

We've curated a K-12 Summer Reading Booklet featuring a variety of titles. Additionally, we've compiled a district-wide collection of eBooks accessible through Overdrive/Sora, ideal for students on-the-go this summer. Do check out the offerings at the Wilton Library as well.  Our e-books can be accessed through the Sora App (eBooks, Audio Books).

Keep the Spark Alive: Dive Into Summer Reading!

Don’t let the "summer slide" wash away a year of hard-earned progress. Research shows that when students take a break from books, they can lose up to two months of reading growth by the time fall rolls around.

The secret to staying sharp isn’t just reading—it’s reading often and reading a lot.

Why Volume Matters:

  • Builds "Brain Stamina": Regular reading keeps the mind conditioned for complex thinking and focus.
  • Expands Vocabulary: The more pages turned, the more new words discovered in context.
  • Prevents Knowledge Loss: Consistent engagement ensures that literacy skills stay fresh and ready for the next grade level.

Whether it’s a gripping mystery, a graphic novel, or a deep dive into history, the goal is simple: Keep the pages turning. By making voluminous reading a daily summer habit, you aren't just preventing a slide—you're giving your student a head start for the year to come.

"Reading is to the mind what exercise is to the body." Make this summer a season of growth, one chapter at a time.
